Ribavirin is an antiviral guanosine ribonucleoside analog. It is a prodrug that metabolizes into a form resembling purine RNA nucleosides and interferes with RNA metabolism and induces mutations in RNA-dependent replication. It is currently being researched as a potential treatment for COVID-19.
