T Cells

Thymus cells, a subset of lymphocytes, are responsible for final stages of every immune response. Upon maturity in the thymus, T cells are then activated upon encounter with virus or cancer infected cells by two means, one, where they deliver a lethal combination of toxic proteins to the targeted cell to encourage the infected cells to self destruct, and two, by apoptosis, where the targeted cell's critical enzymes in the mitochondria are directly destroyed.
