Verapamil is an L-type calcium channel blocker and an inhibitor of drug efflux pump proteins such as P-glycoprotein that are often over-expressed in certain tumor cell lines. It is reported to exhibit vasodilator effects and increase the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
