Imatinib is a 2-phenyl animo pyrimidine derivate and tyrosine-kinase inhibitor that is used in the treatment of a variety of cancers. It binds close to the ATP binding site of Bcr-Abl, inhibiting its activity. It is also reported to be used to inhibit stem cell proliferation and erythropoiesis.
